Project: July Small installation project (With Work experience)

Its not over yet but this has certainly been a busy summer, with more enquiries from all angles than we’ve ever had in previous years. We have carried out 3 times more installations in domestic properties than any previous year and now our suppliers have run out of systems.

One from the bunch

This is a simple enough installation requested by a lovely customer in Ashby De-La-Zouche. A 2.5Kw wifi enabled wall mounted white AC system for a bedroom on the 2^nd floor bedroom.

Height requirement

Whilst piperuns on the external wall on a 1^st floor bedroom can generally be managed via steps, this 2^nd floor bedroom puts us out of reach. Rental of this Scissor lift (8m height) Was JUST enough to reach the point required to fix the trunking and secure the pipework. We had initially requested a 10m Lift which would have easily managed the height, battery complications meant the only available was the 8m, lucky us!

Teach em Young

Work experience is always key and something I would always champion to any young person which takes a keen interest in any of the trades. This one just happens to be my eldest son Taylan. First of all he was hoping for an easy ride, luckily work experience comes around in the summer, not the winter – when pushing paper, clearing storages containers, cleaning vans and the boring work take up a bulk of our labour time. So into the grind he goes, and enjoyed himself reluctantly.

Simple Tasks

Colour coding and numbering on the interconnecting and electrical cables keeps things easy to manage, the topics are even touched upon during school lessons which made bringing that knowledge into a practical setting seem worth while. The finesse of how the cables should enter the terminals is something impossible to teach without the hands on experience and guidance of a seasoned professional.

Result

With the trunking keeping the lineset tidy, drainage running away to a suitable drain and the condensing unit safely out of reach from mischief the installation is complete with a bedroom cool enough to need an extra blanket.
